Pass the Pimms, Please!

With temperatures here in New England inexplicably soaring to over 90 degrees, with 97% humidity, today is no day to even look at knitting -- not even anything cotton. Pity, because I'm rather in the mood to work on something. Right now, my mother is busily knitting away with wool -- how does she do it?
The sun keeps going in and out, but perhaps it's time to hop over to the pool for a quick swim in my vintage Jantzen bathing suit. I wish I lived near the beach -- some cooling ocean breezes are in order, I think.

In anycase, all else has been set aside to work on this seed stitch beach sweater (which may be done in time for Christmas, if I'm lucky), found in the Spring/Summer 1959 issue of Vogue Knitting. I'm using GGH Soft Merino (sadly, discontinued) in the palest of blues. It's also a new venture or me -- it's worked partially on a circular. I'm not sure I understand the directions entirely (see previous post), but I'm hoping All Will Become Clear, because it looks simple enough.

Thank you! So far, I like it too. now that I'm done with the short rows which shape the sides, it should move along at a fairly good clip. (At least until I get to the tricky part near the top.)
